Carrie Coumbs

Keynote Speaker

As an executive in the areas of home health and personal care, Carrie Coumbs has worked alongside acute and post-acute organizations regarding rehospitalization reduction, vendor collaboration, and Skilled Nursing/Hospital at home design and implementation. Ms. Coumbs has an extensive record of establishing executive and C-Suite relationships with health plans, hospital systems, and post-acute care providers on a national scale. One of her notable accomplishments was the launch of a skilled home health program for residents in senior housing communities in the Pacific Northwest. This early intervention of care provided for resident increased length of stay and better quality of life within their new home setting.

Mentoring individuals on the changing landscape of elder care is Ms. Coumbs’ passion. In her spare time, she takes pride in advising young entrepreneurs who are focused on improvements in eldercare and their related groundbreaking technology. Meanwhile, she provides professional consultation for post-acute care providers and those wishing to see improvement and additional affordable options in care management. This passion has taken her to Washington D.C., where she has advocated for seniors and lobbied alongside members of ASHA to then California Senator Kamala Harris’ office as well as Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey to discuss pending legislation affecting our senior population. Even a pandemic could not stop Ms. Coumbs. In the past year, she was out in the field with facemask on and hand sanitizer at the ready, supporting the in-home teams across the nation while serving as the Senior Vice President of Elara Caring’s Personal Care division.

Having heard the statement “Oh, I wish I had known about all of the services available when my parent was ill, I just had no idea” far too many times, Ms. Coumbs is on a mission to re-educate the aging patient and their family members as they prepare for the care years ahead. Continued advocacy for in-home care providers and their patients drives her to teach professional organizations and groups across the country.

Her previous public speaking engagements have included being an esteemed presenter for the American Seniors Housing Association, Home Healthcare News, multiple in-home care provider conferences, and the Race to Value healthcare podcast, all focusing on the improvement in geriatric care and availability of in-home services.

Ms. Coumbs is grateful for her deep experience with multiple aspects of the geriatric care industry, as without such experience from the smallest elder law practice to the nation’s largest provider of home health and hospice care, she would not be able to so effectively strategize and meet the growing needs of the senior care industry.
